Marina dos Anjos Commitment


When we think about environmental problems, the first images that come to our minds are the destruction of the Amazon, oil spill in the sea, melting glaciers and cities being destroyed by natural phenomenons. What most people don’t know is that these problems happening around the globe have a direct connection with the way we interact with everything around us, from brushing our teeth, take a shower, open the fridge, and drive our car to access the internet. The universe is interdependent and we are also responsible for those problems.


For us, sustainability is more than a speech. To think in a sustainable way is to have conscience that it is possible to use natural resources preserving the environment.


Thinking about this, at the Marina dos Anjos were taken some attitudes like the diminishing of the use of plastic bags, garbage recycling, control of the amount of energy and water spent and the use of fluorescent lamps.


We go beyond… we are investing in the creation of the first self-sustained hostel in Brazil! We already have solar heating system, garbage selective collection, compost boxes, we collect water from the rain and flushing system with reduced flow at our toilets. And to these initiatives we’ll add a green roof, and the production of part of the energy used at the hostel through wind generators and solar panels, rain water recycling tank, skylights to optimize the illumination, certified products like water based painting and certified wood and the new led system illumination.
